The Lindsay Clancy Holdout Juror Was the Only Black Man on the Panel — and the Left Just Found Out

Eleven jurors wanted to let Lindsay Clancy walk on an insanity defense after she admitted to killing her three young children. One juror said no. For days, the left treated him like a monster — an obstinate crank standing between a suffering woman and the mental health treatment she supposedly deserved.

Then they found out he was the only Black man on the jury.

Paula Devlin, one of the jurors, went on CBS and sat across from Gayle King to dish on what happened behind closed doors. Devlin described the holdout as "arrogant" for refusing to budge. King, clearly not expecting what came next, responded with a stunned "Whoa. I have to sit with that for just a second" when Devlin revealed the racial detail the media had spent a week carefully avoiding.

The jury, whose members ranged from 22 to 70 years old, had deadlocked after days of deliberations, forcing a mistrial. Clancy used an insanity defense after admitting she killed all three of her children in her home. The state now has to decide whether to retry her. Her defense lawyer Kevin Reddington had built the case around the idea that Clancy wasn't criminally responsible for what she did.

Daily Wire's Matt Walsh put the situation bluntly — the left had been "trashing this guy all week" only to discover the man they'd painted as a heartless obstructionist was the lone minority voice in the room. The same crowd that lectures the country about amplifying marginalized perspectives spent seven days dragging the one juror who fit that description because he arrived at the wrong conclusion.

Here's what makes the jury dynamics even more revealing. Female nurses on the panel reportedly shared toxicology information during deliberations — information the holdout juror allegedly disregarded. But one of the younger female jurors actually admitted something far more damaging to the other side's credibility: her verdict wasn't based on the evidence at all. She said she voted for insanity because she wanted Clancy to receive mental health help. Not because the legal standard was met. Because she felt bad.

That's not how criminal trials work. One juror held the line on criminal responsibility and got called arrogant. Another juror openly admitted she voted based on sympathy instead of evidence and got called compassionate. The coverage tells you everything about which verdict the media wanted.

The pattern here isn't complicated. When a lone dissenter blocks the outcome progressives want, the machine kicks into gear. He's difficult. He's unreasonable. He doesn't understand the science. He's holding everyone hostage. The character assassination runs until the jury room opens and everybody can go home. It never occurs to the people running that playbook to ask whether the one person who wouldn't fold might have had a reason.

Clancy killed three children. That's not in dispute — she admitted it. The question was whether she understood what she was doing. Eleven people said no. One said yes. And the entire weight of progressive media, CBS interviews, and social media outrage landed on the one juror who believed that killing three kids should carry criminal consequences.

The state has a decision to make on retrial. The holdout juror already made his.
