George Washington Med School Now Teaching Doctors How to Fight 'Racism' Instead of Disease

The course is called "Moving Beyond Bystanding…to Disrupting Racism." It's worth Continuing Medical Education credit. And it's being offered at George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences — the medical school named after the man who founded the country these doctors are being trained to diagnose as sick.

Your future cardiologist might not remember which valve is which, but he'll know exactly how racist your blood pressure is.

The course promises that "no matter what role you have, this training will allow for you to recognize your responsibility in contributing to an antiracist institutional culture." Not your responsibility to patients. Not your responsibility to medical accuracy. Your responsibility to ideology.

The program has already processed 338 participants in its online training across 25 GW departments, with another 226 completing in-person sessions across 10 departments. The effort is organized through GW's Anti-Racism Coalition, because apparently a medical school needs one of those now.

Stanley Goldfarb, chairman of the medical advocacy group Do No Harm, didn't mince words. "GW School of Medicine should rename the course to 'Moving Beyond Medicine … to Embracing Identity Politics,'" Goldfarb told The College Fix.

He went further: "It is almost laughable and deeply concerning that pseudoscientific social justice training qualifies for Continuing Medical Education credit."

"Simply put, this is not medicine."

Goldfarb pointed out what anyone with a functioning brain stem already knows — that a serious healthcare professional "would not blame every racial disparity on bias but would instead look at the whole picture, including comorbidities, genetics, lifestyle, and other relevant factors." In other words, the stuff they used to teach in medical school before medical school became a DEI seminar.

Do No Harm has, according to Goldfarb, "on multiple occasions, debunked studies that claim that racial concordance will improve health outcomes." He argued that courses should be "grounded in medical evidence and rigorous scientific inquiry, not methodologically shoddy 'studies.'"

None of that matters to GW, apparently. The school has Dr. Maranda Ward and Dr. Olanrewaju Falusi helping lead the charge — medical educators who've decided that the real pathology in American healthcare isn't misdiagnosis or malpractice but insufficient wokeness.

The left-wing defense here writes itself: "We're just teaching cultural competency." Except cultural competency doesn't require a course built around the premise that American institutional culture is racist and that every employee — from surgeons to janitors — bears personal responsibility for dismantling it. That's not competency training. That's confession.

This is the same pattern we've watched play out in law schools, corporate boardrooms, and federal agencies for years. The institution doesn't ask whether the premise is true. It doesn't test the hypothesis. It skips straight to the remedy — antiracism training — and hands out professional credits for completing it. The course title tells you everything: you're not "bystanding" racism. You're moving beyond it. The assumption that racism is the baseline isn't up for debate. It's baked into the curriculum.

George Washington led an army of farmers against the most powerful empire on earth so his countrymen could govern themselves. The medical school bearing his name now offers credit hours for learning that the country he built is fundamentally broken.

Somewhere, there's a medical student at GW cramming for a course on disrupting racism who couldn't name all four chambers of the heart. But at least the diagnosis will be equity-approved.
